A garage can be more then just a storage space, and with the excessive amount of time the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us all to stay home, this garage was given an excuse to complete its transformation.

With the floors and walls already finished, the last remaining component was the ceiling. Due to the garage being used as a partial living space, it was a necessity to insulate the garage ceiling so as to save energy running the ceiling mounted space heater. Attic rafter vents were installed between the roof framing members to maintain proper airflow from the soffit, and a vapour barrier was installed on the bottoms of the ceiling cross joists.

Wood was the preferred finish, with pine being the selection of choice. In order to bring out the grain in the wood a stain was applied over each individual tongue and groove plank prior to installation on the joists. The result was a beautiful finish with a lot of character. Although the species of wood is in fact pine, the finish look closely resembles that of cedar, and delivers a lot of beauty to a space not normally associated with such a feature.
