The front of this house went through quite the transformation due to the garage being damaged by a fire. With the homeowner wanting to put the house on the market, a sale just wasn’t going to happen without some serious repairs being done.

First and foremost, the exterior siding needed to all be removed in order to analyze the extent of the damage caused by the fire. Once the necessary damaged studs were removed and replaced, a new tongue and groove wood plank siding stained to a red cedar colour was installed with black trim.

Luckily, the front vestibule enclosure was not damaged by the fire and could be salvaged, but it still had a worn down look and therefore was painted black to freshen it up and match the black trim. The enclosure door was also replaced due to the existing door improperly functioning.

Although landscaping is not a typical form of home improvement offered by BHI, the front interlock of this home needed to be changed. The existing brick was worn, unlevel, and an eye sore. To complement the black vestibule enclosure, a dark interlock brick with matching step was installed and sloped away from the home for proper water drainage.

Lastly, to provide a more inviting finished look to the vestibule enclosure, a tile floor was installed. The existing floor consisted of an old damaged linoleum that was barely glued down, and did not provide a welcoming feel when first entering the home.

Its unfortunate these home improvements were necessary due to the nature of what caused the need for them. However ultimately these repairs resulted in a great front facelift and increased the curb appeal of this back split.
