This Maple Master bathroom got a major facelift, going from outdated to a new spa like feel.

Highlighting one of the major components of this renovation, and first feature the user sees when entering this beautiful bathroom is this drop-in corner tub.  Its unfortunate that nowadays these drop-in corner tubs end up being ripped out and disposed of, generally due to the fact that they either stop working, or the style just gives an out of date feel.  However if the tub basin is still in good shape, these drop-in units can really be a great feature in any bathroom by updating the tile installed around the framing.

Lucky enough for these homeowners the tub basin was still in amazing shape, and they had the vision to see this bathroom feature as something they wanted to continue to utilize that just needed a facelift.   Flowing up the walls of the framed surround supporting the tub is the same tile used throughout the floor and shower within the bathroom.  Instead of continuing this 24" x 12" black tile around the backsplash of the tub, a sleek modern pop was added to this bathroom by installing a mixed porcelain / glass / aluminum mosaic to the backsplash area.  

 

The faucet of this corner tub was swapped out for a new unit, and a great subtle feature was also added to the front wall of this tub.  All water control units have a limited shelf life, and to prevent having to break tile in order to service the faucet area of this tub in the future, a magnetic trap door featuring the ability to pull off an entire tile to get to the supply feeds was installed for easy an non-destructive access underneath the tub.
