(Pre Renovation)

This bathroom renovation came out beautifully, modernizing the space from its old 90s decor, to a sleek new clean feel. The bathroom was already a decent size prior to the renovation, but now has an increased foot print, higher functionality, and a few new bells and whistles.

Being the only full bathroom on the upstairs floor serving three bedrooms, addressing the need for more counter space was the main issue for functionality. This issue was dealt with by removing the small linen closet which originally bumped out into the bathroom, creating the additional room for the large double vanity. What is great about this double vanity is not just its length, but depth as well. This piece was sanded, white washed, and re purposed from its original use as a dresser meaning its depth doesn’t protrude as far into the room. This gives the width of the bathroom space an even bigger feel, and saved a lot of money as well.

My personal favourite aspect of this reno was the use of the large 30” x 30” porcelain tile from floor to ceiling to give that smooth flowing waterfall style look. Grout lines were kept minimal to give the visual of all the tile being one piece, and the Atria floor vent was a great addition with its tile-in insert.

Functionality was also added to this bathroom with the replacement of the shower window. The tracks of the original sliding shower window had rusted and broke, so to address preventing this from happening again in the future the window was replaced. The shower now features an awning window with a crank to prevent any water pooling and increases the amount of steam vented out of the room when using the shower.

Another great feature in this bathroom was the installation of a Bi-fold glass shower door. This door gives the user easy access to the shower controls when turning on the shower, as well as the ability to fold out of the way when taking a bath.

Colours were kept light and airy in the room, with darker accent colours used on the vanity mirrors, lights, and handles. These accents, paired with the mirrors ability to light up, give this bathroom its flair of style without taking away from the light modern feel of the renovation.
